Where everybody knows your name

Welcome Web Surfer, to Upper Cockenzie (or The U.C. if you prefer), East Lothian’s newest and brightest place to live and visit. Established in 2007 by a fantastic bunch of respected and professional builders, Upper Cockenzie is a charming little gated–community, nestled lovingly within the bosom of rural East Lothian, a mere 20 minutes from the hustle and bustle of Edinburgh.

To the North & East, Upper Cockenzie is bordered by Cockenzie Power Station; and to the South & West by Prestonpans, for that authentic East Berlin feeling.

Meet the Mayor

Ed Henderson, Mayor of Upper Cockenzie

My name is Ed Henderson and I am the first ever (self appointed of course) Mayor of Upper Cockenzie.

If there is anything my team or I can do to help, during your stay in our part of the world then please let me know.

Until I am forcibly removed from office, you can email me on mayor@uppercockenzie.com.

Attractions

  • Cockenzie Power Station

Enjoy stunning views of Cockenzie Power Station (recently awarded the accolade of dirtiest in Europe – belching pollution that damages public health and spreads acid rain).

  • Kick about area

We are very proud of our Kick About Area. After months of wrangling, the majority of the debris has now been removed. It has dog grids & gates (but it’s OK, you can carry your dog over to allow it to go to the toilet).

  • Four children’s play parks

Top quality, substandard parks, all constructed by the same company, using the same equipment, means you only need to visit one, a real time saver.

  • Grownups

Absolutely no pubs, restaurants or shops, whatsoever. We also have no plans to open any. Good times.

  • Shopping

If you like shopping you are in for a real treat. Close by, in the quaint little villages of Prestonpans and Cockenzie & Port Seton, you have access to some of East Lothian’s finest retail outlets. Three Scotmid’s (yes, you read correctly, 3!), a brand new shiny Haldanes and our little diamond in the rough, Harvey LIDL’s.

Why not visit?

With the constant, ongoing building work, scheduled to be finished in the next 6 18 months; the beautiful existing landscaping provided by the amazing Greenbelt; and East Lothian Council still to take responsibility for the roads, pavements and street lighting, there is no better time to visit.

We would love you to visit, or even better, why not move here and add to our already multi–cultural and vibrant community. There are many unsold properties for you to choose from.

Upper Cockenzie, where everybody knows your name.
